Energizing (Broccoli!) Green Smoothie

Energizing (Broccoli!) Green Smoothie

Ewww broccoli in a smoothie?! That was my initial response, and I'm sure will be the response from you when I tell you that frozen broccoli is my new obsession in smoothies. It thickens up the smoothie, similar to how adding ice cubes does, but you get all of the added nutrients from this mean, green, vegetable machine as well! Broccoli is a very good source of dietary fiber, vitamin B6, vitamin E, manganese, phosphorus, choline, vitamin B1, vitamin A, potassium and copper. Broccoli is also a good source of omega-3 fatty acids, protein, zinc, calcium, iron, niacin, and selenium.

Yes, I just copy and pasted that from google. But WHAT IS NOT TO LOVE PEOPLE?!? Make your insides smile. And before you knock this recipe, give it a try, it just might surprise you!! It really is delicious and gives me an extra boost of energy for the day.

This is perfect for breakfast, a pre/post workout snack, or anytime you feel you could use a little extra pep in your step!

*When trying this recipe don't skip the VegaOne protein powder! It is SO good and the key to making this tasty/keeping you full all day!!

Recipe:

  • 1 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk
  • 1 scoop VegaOne vailla protein powder
  • 5 frozen broccoli florets
  • 1/2 cup frozen spinach
  • 1/3 of a frozen banana

Add almond milk, protein powder, frozen broccoli, frozen spinach, and the banana to a high powered blender (I use a VitaMix) and blend until smooth. This makes a thick smoothie, which I love, but if you want it a bit thinner just add a little extra almond milk. Pour into a glass, sip, and feel your insides smile!!
